Turning Point is a crisis intervention, acute stabilization, and psychiatric diversion program that provides children and their caregivers with therapeutic services and natural supports to help prevent hospitalizations and maintain stable foster home placements. Licensed professionals are available 24/7 to provide initial support, assessment and services referrals over the phone. Additional, mobile, on-site crisis teams providing in-home interventions and safety planning are a part of the process. Alternative care settings are also accessible for youth and families who qualify. *

Who qualifies for Turning Point Service? Turning Point is available for children in the conservatorship of the Texas DFPS that are residing in a single-family, home environment. Children can be placed in traditional foster care or kinship care with a private child placing agency or with Child Protective Services.
Who does not qualify for Turing Point services?
Children and youth who are not in Kinship Care or the Foster Care System of Texas
Placed in a Residential Treatment Center
Residing outside of Bexar and Harris Counties (more counties to come)
How does it work? In a moment of crisis, youth or caregivers can dial the appropriate number for their county (Bexar or Harris) to reach a trained crisis worker. Turning Point staff will complete an assessment and determine the appropriate course of action which may include:
De-Escalation and Crisis Aversion
Service and Resource Referrals Provided
Crisis Team mobilized for On-site Intervention
Safety Plans for Child and Family
Referral to In-patient Psychiatric Hospital if Necessary

Wraparound: Wraparound is an evidence-based practice model that approaches care to families in a different way, using the family’s own voice and choice to help them achieve better outcomes. The COMPASS Wraparound program will work with a family to identity their natural supports, strengths and underlying needs, and team with them to develop a plan to address the needs and make lasting changes. COMPASS services are community-based, person-centered, and family driven; the plans are decided by the family team. Wraparound = working together to make life better.
A Better Tomorrow - Support Services: Mosaic is committed to a ‘whatever it takes’ approach for the success of the child and family. We offer a comprehensive, in-home support services array which will work with the family to address their needs. Through dedicated intervention, skills building, support, and education, COMPASS will meet the family where they are and help them get to where they want to be.
Skills Training and Support: Knowing that every child and family has untapped potential, Mosaic believes that often times individuals simply need new, fresh tools to be successful. Through the skills training program, COMPASS provides a trained para-professional to assist the child and family with skills acquisition in their own home and community. From learning how to deal with daily stressors to learning to balance a checkbook, COMPASS has it covered.
Nurturing Parenting: The Nurturing Parenting program provides skills and training to help parents learn now techniques and develop their existing skills with a focus on self-care, positive-parenting, and enriching relationships. We provide a parenting coach to assist with skill building practical instruction in the family home. COMPASS nurtures to success.
